Watch Chris Robinson Cover Otis Redding’s ‘Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song)’ on ‘Kimmel’

Robinson told Jimmy Kimmel he selected the song because Redding is his “favorite soul singer.” “Being from Atlanta originally, R&B music, soul music, funk music—it’s a big part of the rock ‘n’ roll we make,” he said. Black Crowes recently released their 10th studio album, A Pound of Feathers , which was recorded with Nashville producer Jay Joyce. The band was also nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in February.

Robinson spoke to Kimmel about the nomination and the band’s new music, as well as his ongoing issue of forgetting his lyrics onstage. Kimmel reminded Robinson of how he said in 2017 that he is “not going” to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame if inducted. The musician explained that he used to be “negative about the whole thing.” “Things definitely changed,” he said.
