Harry Styles Makes Surprise Cameo During Ryan Gosling’s ‘SNL’ Monologue
The pop star briefly showed up during Ryan Gosling’s opening monologue on the March 7 episode of NBC’s long-running sketch show, sending the studio audience into a frenzy when cameras revealed him sitting in the crowd. Gosling quickly incorporated the moment into the bit, jokingly panicking that Styles’ presence was distracting the audience from his monologue plans.
“Is that Harry Styles?” Gosling asked after noticing the singer in the crowd. When the camera cut to Styles, the audience erupted into cheers as the former One Direction member casually waved from his seat. When Gosling asked why he was there, Styles explained he had simply stopped by to watch ahead of his own hosting gig the following week.
“Well, I’m hosting next week, and it’s been a while,” Styles said during the segment. “So I just wanted to watch and get a feel for it.” The sketch leaned into the idea that Styles’ effortless cool was overshadowing Gosling’s monologue. At one point, the host joked that Styles’ presence was throwing him off track as he tried to introduce a musical number tied to his upcoming sci-fi film Project Hail Mary .
“Your coolness is becoming a bit of an issue,” Gosling told the singer as the camera repeatedly cut back to him in the audience.
