The Veronicas Cover Sombr’s ’12 to 12′ for triple j’s ‘Like A Version’

Australian pop duo The Veronicas have delivered a new performance for triple j’s long-running Like A Version series, taking on sombr’s track “12 to 12.” Introducing their choice of song in the studio, the sisters described sombr as a compelling songwriter and said the track immediately stood out to them as a standout piece of pop writing.

They explained that once they heard “12 to 12,” the song quickly became an obsession, praising its structure and melody as an example of sharp pop craftsmanship. As longtime songwriters themselves, the duo said they were drawn to the strength of the composition, noting their appreciation for artists who demonstrate a strong instinct for building memorable pop songs.

Alongside the cover, The Veronicas also performed their breakout hit “Untouched,” the 2007 single from their album Hook Me Up . The track remains one of the duo’s most recognizable releases and has enjoyed renewed attention in recent years across social media and streaming platforms. The appearance marked the pair’s proper debut performing in the Like A Version studio, a milestone moment for the Brisbane-raised artists who have been part of Australia’s pop landscape for nearly two decades.

The performance arrives during triple j’s special run of Like A Version sessions this month, which has featured a wider slate of artists delivering covers and originals. Earlier in the week, Baltimore hardcore band Turnstile launched the expanded schedule with a rendition of the Stone Roses’ classic “I Wanna Be Adored,” paying tribute to the band’s late bassist Mani.
