It’s a full-circle moment for an artist who has spoken openly about growing up on that same stretch of Wynwood long before it became one of the most sought-after creative districts in the country. “I used to live in Wynwood when they didn’t sell art,” Pitbull said at a 2020 event just blocks from the proposed site.

“They sold coke, crack and heroin, so to be able to perform… I used to stay right up the block when nobody believed in me, so to be on this stage is definitely an honor. From 28th Street and N. Miami Ave to be right here, it’s a beautiful thing.”
