CISAC Board Gathering In Sydney For Talks on the ‘Significant Threat’ of AI
By Rebecca Segovia Excitement fills the air in Sydney this week as APRA AMCOS celebrates its centenary by hosting a once-in-a-quarter-century gathering of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC). This landmark event marks the first CISAC board meeting in Sydney in 25 years, uniting rights professionals from across the globe. With representatives from 228 societies in 111 countries, the assembly includes prominent leaders from major organizations such as ASCAP (U.S.), JASRAC (Japan), PRS for Music (U.K.), SOCAN (Canada), and UBC (Brazil).
One of the key topics on the agenda is the “significant threat” posed by artificial intelligence to creators’ rights and compensation. The collective aims to address these pressing concerns and discuss strategies for safeguarding the interests of artists in a rapidly changing digital landscape. This pivotal gathering not only highlights vital issues facing the creative community today but also honors a century of advocacy for authors and composers worldwide.
